How many teeth can I treat with veneers?
The number of teeth treated with wafer-thin, porcelain veneers will depend on your goals, how many teeth need correction, and which teeth show when you smile. Veneers can be used for only 1 or 2 teeth, or may be placed on as many as all the visible teeth in your smile. Dr. Berger will recommend which teeth should receive porcelain veneers during your new patient consultation.

Will porcelain veneers feel unnatural on my teeth?
Dr. Berger will shape your veneers to be very thin, so when they are bonded they should be nearly unnoticeable. And the porcelain material used mimics the qualities of natural enamel for a comfortable feel. Except for some mild sensitivity after placement, you should be able to chew, eat, and speak normally. It will not take long to adjust to the new veneers.

How can I prolong the life of my veneers?
You will need to take good care of your veneers to keep them looking and functioning great for many years. You should keep your porcelain veneers clean with regular brushing and flossing. Limit eating foods like hard candies and staining foods that can damage your veneers and natural teeth. Dr. Berger will share tips on how you can keep your veneers healthy and strong with you during your visit.

Why are veneers considered a conservative treatment?
For all dental restorations, your dentist will need to shave some amount of your natural enamel in order to make room for the new addition. Because porcelain veneers are so thin, only a tiny amount of natural enamel is needed to be removed. Veneers are perfect for patients who desire a cosmetic change but aren't willing to commit to larger, more invasive restorations.
